Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, with a focus on designing and implementing scalable, high-performance systems. You will play a crucial role in developing the backbone of our applications, ensuring reliability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend systems and services.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of applications.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in backend development.
  • Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python or Java.
  • Experience with database systems (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization tools.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with geospatial data and Earth observation technologies.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Authentication workflows and securing applications (OpenID, OAuth2, etc.)
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
